SPIRIT OF THE WALL

BY MIKE MOSCHKIN
I sense you as you park your car on the avenue
I hear you as you close the car door
I know your footsteps as you slowly walk the walk
I see you respectfully glancing at each passing slab
I know your thoughts are racing to me and the others

* Touch me, Touch me, forget me not once more *

I lie deep within the black paneled slabs
My name etched on the surface of the wall
I feel your warm fingers running across my name

* Touch me, touch me, forget me not once more *

Long have I passed from the memories of others
But deep within your memories I dwell

** Oh dear comrade, touch me, touch me,
forget me not once more **
